What is wrong with Robertson that makes everyone think they are going to move on from Roberston? I mean I get he is a bad skater, but he put up goals. Playing him with Jack and Bratt, is he defensively deficient, or is he going to force the defensive responsibilities of that line to Bratt.

Or is it that they think he is going to break the budget with his next contract demands.

I am no fan of Hamilton, so Dougie and future first, Daws (goalie prospect), a forward prospect (Squires) would not bother me if Robertson is the proper fit for what we need.

I saw that one of the Utica goalies signed elsewhere, so is there another goalie in the chain to be the backup for the short term if they trade Daws and Allen/Markstrom get hurt. As cool as it would be, I dont really think we want to see Jeremy Brodeur in nets in Newark.

I think the only disconnect between Robertson and Dallas is his next contract — he’s looking at an eight-figure salary for his next deal.

As far as defense goes, Robertson has been one of the best defensive wingers in the game for a few years now. He can certainly handle his own in that regard.

I love Dougie as a player and think he certainly fits a team need, but if moving on from him means acquiring Robertson, sayonara haha.

As far as goalie stuffs go, Jakub Málek would be next after Markstrom-Allen-Daws. Hopefully it doesn’t go that far.

8-figure salary even after two 80-point seasons? Isn't that kind of high? If he was breaking 100 consistently, absolutely. Good article, btw. Giving me something good to read about the Devils in the off-season.

Hamilton for one year of Robertson?

I mean can the Devils afford his next contract, and get Quinn? (Which until he signs his next contract the Devils Internet Fan Base is assuming is a dumb deal?) The Big 4, Robertson, Quinn, Luke all over 8 million or higher (Bratt rounded up). Figure 7 x 11 for Robertson, Quinn same thing.

Accounting for that is going to be tough.

And god forbid with this new alignment Mercer hits and needs a big deal.

First world problems I guess.
